This week saw our very own Chris McGarry receive his VMWare Professional 5 Certification and this is how he did it ...
My journey to VMWare Certification began back in 2009, when businesses were challenging the IT industry to give them a better return on investment for expensive Server equipment, which at maximum capacity used 20% of their resources.
It was at this time that Belfast International Airport took the leap of faith and embraced the world of Cloud Computing. We wanted to invest in a solution whereby we would replace ageing Servers with a new model, providing new technologies.
As a Server Engineer at BIA, I was given the opportunity to sit the VCP3 course and exam, giving me the skills and ability to manage the virtual environment to ensure that BIA got the optimal return for their initial investment.
As the VMWare suite of products grew, it was inevitable that BIA would continue to utilise these new technologies and so I recently obtained the certification: VMWare Certified Professional 5 – Data Centre Virtualisation.
By obtaining this accreditation, I will be able to provide a more efficient Server environment at BIA to ensure better performance and availability to our end users and customers.
