Education is a key strand of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme and our team members are continually looking at ways of helping our local schools.
So when a member of our Human Resources team was speaking to a teacher at Larne grammar School, the issue of preparing pupils for interviews was brought up.
Larne Grammar School has approximately 90 year 14 pupils and, to give them a taste of what lies ahead, they prepare them by holding mock interviews with representatives from a range businesses covering the areas of Transport, Health & Social Services, Engineering and Travel and Tourism.
It’s the first time we have been asked to participate and our Human Resource team went along to help put the pupils through their paces.
After the interviews, our Human Resources Executive, Jillian Reid, said “The pupils had really prepared well for the interviews. To give them a flavour of what they can expect, we asked them questions, similar to those we would normally ask in interview situations. Mind you, they were well able and very focused on telling us why they wanted the job.”
Following their interview experience, one of the pupils commented “I found the evening very worthwhile as it has given me an insight into the variety of questions asked in an interview. It has also given me useful feedback to allow me to improve my interview skills.”
