More than 100 jobs at Belfast International Airport will be on offer at the latest airport Job Fair, which takes place next Thursday (26th Oct), 4pm to 7pm, at The Spectrum Centre on Belfast’s Shankill Road.
This is the fourth Job Fair to be organised by Belfast International, bringing the total number of positions to be filled to 100. Six businesses which operate at the airport will have stands at the Job Fair which gets underway at 4pm at the Spectrum Centre.
Security company, ICTS has up to sixty positions available, while Swissport, provider of ground and cargo handling services, has twenty jobs on offer. Other businesses exhibiting include catering company, Fed & Watered and currency exchange firm, ICE. Three Police Student Officer positions will also be up for grabs as Belfast International Airport expands its Airport Constabulary.
Head of Human Resources at BIA, Jaclyn Coulter, said she hoped scores of job-hunters would be attracted to the Job Fair to see what was available.
Ms Coulter said: “In the past few years, airport businesses have created hundreds of new jobs, and we decided to run Job Fairs in south Antrim, north Antrim, west and now north Belfast. The response we have had has been tremendous, but we continue in growth mode which means our companies are expanding their workforces and in need of people to fill those positions. All necessary training for the jobs advertised will be provided by airport businesses.”
North Belfast DUP MP Nigel Dodds, has encouraged people in the constituency to consider a career at the airport. Mr Dodds said: “The airport offers tremendous scope to people who are seeking new and different employment. There’s such a wide range of jobs on offer, and my hope is that people from north Belfast will be able to avail of them.
“These jobs hold out the prospect of generating anything from £1.6 million to £2.5 million in wages each year, and that would be a welcome boost for the North Belfast economy.
“The airport is to be congratulated for this effort, and I know that, with further growth planned, employers will be back with us in the not too distant future.”
