Airport works with NOW to deliver work experience

NOW group is a social enterprise which specialises in providing vital experience in work and employment for people with learning difficulties.

Belfast International Airport is working with NOW to provide work experience for young adults. This will provide them with an insight into the workplace and give them inspiration for future career paths.

John from NOW worked with us and said of his experience: “When I needed to learn something, people took the time to show me what I had to do and how things worked. It didn’t matter how long it took - I liked that.”

John saw at first hand the various jobs at the airport, looking at the airport operations, fire station, engineering and car parks.

David, who visited the airport with John, told us that it was “three days of non-stop learning”.

Jaclyn Coulter, Head of HR at the airport commented on the partnership saying: “The feedback our work experience participants show that we have made an impact on their lives and we will be working with NOW to help provide additional work experience opportunities.

"NOW provides training and experience to give those involved the best possible chance of becoming employed and becoming independent. We are delighted to link with this programme and to have helped the young people involved.”

Over the past year volunteers, from many different businesses, have donated a total of over 3,000 hours of their time to NOW - so Belfast International Airport is delighted to be able to add to this support. For more information on NOW Group, click here.
