1st July 2021: Jet2.com and Jet2holidays took to the skies once again this morning, (1st July), as the award-winning airline and tour operator recommenced its flights and holidays programme from Belfast International Airport, following last week’s announcement from the UK Government on international travel.

A flight departed from Belfast International Airport to Ibiza, with customers in the region jetting off for some much-needed sunshine to the Green List destination. Flights with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will also depart to Menorca and Majorca over the coming weeks.

Following the news last week that the Balearic Islands (Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza), Malta and Madeira have been put onto the Green List, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays reported a huge surge in bookings from Belfast International Airport to these destinations, with customers flocking to book July and August holidays.

The leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist reported the highest volume of bookings to the Balearic Islands in almost a year, with bookings for July alone up more than 3,000% at one point as customers took the chance to finally book and enjoy their much-needed holidays. As well as booking and travelling on award-winning flights and ATOL protected package holidays to these destinations from Belfast International Airport, customers can get to experience and enjoy the company’s VIP customer service which has seen Jet2.com and Jet2holidays win high-profile accolades before and during the pandemic, such as Which? Recommended Provider and TripAdvisor’s Best Airline – UK and Top 10 Airlines of the World.

This VIP customer service includes friendly flight times and a generous 22kg baggage allowance through a flight-only booking with Jet2.com, seeing the airline win five accolades at the 2020 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice® Awards for Airlines; or that very same VIP customer service, in-resort Customer Helpers, transfers, free child places and ATOL protection with the UK’s second largest tour operator, Jet2holidays.

As well as a choice of thousands of 2-5 star hotels through Jet2holidays, customers can take advantage of millions of Free Child Places which are available this summer. Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are delighted to see our international flights take off again today from Belfast International Airport and to be resuming our award-winning flights and holidays programme to the Balearic Islands (Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza). As well as waving customers off to Ibiza this morning, we also have flights to Majorca and Menorca due to depart over the coming week, so we look forward to taking more customers in the region on their well-deserved holidays. “We know how much pent-up demand there is from our customers and independent travel agents to enjoy our award-winning flights and real package holidays once again, so it is fantastic to be back in the air. Our focus now is on doing what we do best - delivering award winning customer service and package holidays you can trust!

We look forward to more destinations being added to the UK’s Green List very soon and taking more customers to their favourite sunshine hotspots.” Uel Hoey, Business Development Director, said, “It’s great news for Belfast International Airport and Northern Ireland holidaymakers that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will imminently restart flights, initially to the Spanish islands. “Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has grown significantly to become a trusted, staple product for local consumers over the past eighteen years, and it will be a massively positive sight to see their fleet of aircraft departing from the International Airport runway once more, hopefully a foreboding of full normality returning in the weeks and months ahead.” For further information and to book visit www.jet2.com or www.jet2holidays.com
